Mercedes Sprinter

The kit listed here for the Mercedes Sprinter (VW Crafter) is fairly typical for most installations, however it has an on board air supply which most do not, because this is a minibus with a load that can change by the minute. | ||||||

The three pics above show the brackets fitted (after removal of the bump stops), and then the bag fitted to the bracket, and as you can see above the bag is just visible from outside. This bag is an assister and so for the unladen vehicle has little effect upon ride height – actually it does lift about an inch but this is hardly noticeable. This is all there is to most “assister kits”, but since this vehicle is a luxury Minibus, and can go from unladen to fully loaded in about 2 minutes, the customer specified dashboard control of the air system. This means an onboard air compressor, tank, and controller on the dash. This particular vehicle was not nice when loaded and the air was designed to help. It also helps in crosswinds, and on bumpy roads. This vehicle drove better at all times following installation of the air. |

| Above we see the air compressor, and tank fitted to the Sprinter bracket under the vehicle. A cover is well advised to protect the compressor from water, salt and impacts. | ||||||

The switch is a master on/off for the system, and the paddles inflate the left and right bag, with the pressure shown on the left and right needles in the gauge (one red and one white). Pressure can be adjusted at any time, including whilst on the move. The controller is fitted so it can clearly be seen and adjusted but without being able to be knocked accidentally. |
